As part of All Aboard Brattleboro Train Day festivities marking the opening of the new Amtrak station, the Latchis will host a special matinee of the movie HUGO on Wednesday, June 24, at 2:30pm. Admission is by suggested donation of $5.

Released in 2011 and directed by Martin Scorsese, HUGO tells the story of Hugo Cabret, who is orphaned and alone except for an uncle and lives in the walls of a train station in the 1930s Paris. Hugo’s job is to oil and maintain the station’s clocks, but to him, his more important task is to protect a broken automaton and notebook left to him by his late father. Accompanied by the goddaughter of an embittered toy merchant, Hugo embarks on a quest to solve the mystery of the automaton and find a place he can call home.

Praised as one of the finest family movies ever made, HUGO is an elegant fantasy with an innocence lacking in many modern kids’ movies, and one that emanates an unabashed love for the magic of cinema. HUGO runs 2 hours and 6 minutes, and is Rated PG. Common Sense Media deems it suitable for ages 8 and up.
