Labor Film Festival: Hide & La Liga – Sept 13

September 13 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Vermont State Employees’ Association presents the Brattleboro Labor Film Festival on four Sundays at the Latchis Theatre, beginning Labor Day Weekend. All festival screenings are at 4:00pm, and admission is by donation.

The festival continues on Sunday, Sept. 13, with Hide & La Liga, followed by a panel with Migrant Justice. Hide takes viewers inside the struggles of Vermont’s migrant workers for dignity. La Liga documents how sport can foster community, and spotlights the activism of immigrant farmworkers. While the film offers compelling images of soccer heroics, it mainly focuses on economic struggle. The documentary stands as a poignant plea for justice and dignity for the workers who keep Vermont’s dairy industry thriving.

The festival continues on Sept. 27, the festival with STRENGTH OF THE STORM, followed by a panel moderated by the Vermont Workers’ Center. On Oct. 4, the festival wraps up with THE WOBBLIES & THE FLINT SIT DOWN STRIKE, followed by a panel moderated by Tom Juriavich of UMass Amherst Labor Center.

Admission by Donation.
