SUMMARY:Puppets in the Green Mountains: Film and Q&A - 'Iniskim - Return of the Buffalo' - Sept. 16
DESCRIPTION:Join Sandglass Theater and Latchis Arts for this very special screening of “Iniskim- Return of the Buffalo”\, an intercultural artistic response to the return of the buffalo\, as wild animals\, to Western North America. The screening will be held on Wednesday\, Sept. 16\, at 7:00pm\, in the Latchis Main Theatre\, and is presented as part of the Puppets in the Green Mountains Festival. \nDavid Lane\, collaborating puppeteer for this project\, for a special talk back about the process. \nFor tickets to the film\, please click here: https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=348102 \nIniskim- Return of the Buffalo is a cinematic wonder and an incredible opportunity to learn about Indigenous ways of knowing. We watch as a group of puppeteers are transformed by their experience of ‘being buffalo’ at night under the stars. Amethyst First Rider says to the puppeteers\, “You are the buffalo. With each movement of your hands\, each connection\, each dream\, you’re creating energy and they become a part of you.” \nIn 2017 history was made when bison were reintroduced to Banff National Park where they continue to roam free today.  This project was part of the historic Buffalo Treaty that now has over 40 First Nation signatories\, meaning they are part of the movement to bring buffalo back to their ancestral lands. Leroy Little Bear and Amethyst First Rider are leading this movement and since Amethyst is first and foremost an artist\,  she wanted to celebrate the return of the buffalo through art. Soon into Amethyst’s quest she met master puppeteer\, Pete Balkwill. At the time Pete and his collaborators were working with sculptural lantern puppets that lent themselves to night-time performances on the land.  Amethyst and Leroy were immediately intrigued.  A performance about buffalo at night under the stars! \nThe 39-minute documentary film about their deep collaborative journey is structured around a ‘Masterclass’ on Plains Indian ways of knowing. We see the puppeteers with Leroy and Amethyst\, absorbing their knowledge and then integrating it into the creation of both the puppets and the theatrical production. \nFor more on the film\, please visit  https://www.maskandpuppet.com/project/ini skim/

Tickets for the show are available at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=339005  \nNow that humans are extinct and the world as we knew it has ended\, the Octopus has a decision to make: Will it be willing to give up one of its three hearts in order to create a new\, more sensitive human being? SUMMARY:The Limeliters - Sept. 25
DESCRIPTION:The legendary Limeliters will perform at the Latchis Theatre on Friday\, Sept. 25\, bringing their signature folk vocal sound to the Main Theatre for a 7:00pm show. \nTickets are $24 and are available at: https://app.arts-people.com/?show=351726 \nFor more than 60 years the Limeliters have entertained audiences from coast to coast with their soaring vocal harmonies and screwball sense of humor. They first made their mark in folk clubs and on college campuses during the height of the folk music boom of the early 60s. Before long\, founding members Alex Hassilev\, Lou Gottlieb and Glenn Yarbrough emerged as one of the dominant voices of the early 1960s folk music scene. \nA string of best-selling albums for RCA Records and frequent appearances on dozens of major TV shows quickly made them a household name. For three years they were the musical representatives for Coca-Cola\, and their rendition of the jingle “Things Go Better with Coke” became a national hit. Time Magazine summed up their appeal with the following memorable quote: “If the button down scrubbed looking Kingston Trio are the undergraduates of bigtime folk singing\, The Limeliters are the faculty.” \nOver the years\, the lineup of the group has featured several spectacularly talented new members\, but The Limeliters have never deviated from the integrity of the fabulous sound that they pioneered\, and they are still one of the most exciting and entertaining vocal acts touring the country. \nThe current lineup features Andy Corwin on bass and vocals\, Steve Brooks on guitar\, mandolin\, harmonica and vocals\, and Daniel Boling on guitar\, banjo\, penny whistle and vocals.
